For Terrawagen founder Eric Didier, a love of cars started early. At ten years old, he was already driving and wrenching on a 1954 Renault 4CV given to him by his grandfather. Vans became part of the story not long after. Eric’s father purchased a new Volkswagen van in 1969, beginning a family connection with VW vans that continues today.

As soon as Eric had his driver’s license, he began modifying and customizing vans of his own. From early VW Split Windows and Bay Windows to Vanagons, Sprinters, Transits, and today’s newest generation of vans, that enthusiasm has never really stopped.

Terrawagen grew naturally from that lifelong obsession. What began with clever, purpose-built accessories for the Volkswagen Vanagon expanded into products for the Sprinter and other modern vans. The idea has remained the same: design products that solve real problems, fit properly, look like they belong on the vehicle, and are made by people who genuinely understand the vehicles they are designing for.

Based in Portland, Oregon, Terrawagen designs and manufactures many of its products in-house. From the first idea and prototype through tooling, forming, machining, and production, we remain closely involved in how our products are made.

More than five decades after that first family Volkswagen van, we’re still modifying vans, still designing parts, and still finding ways to make them better.

Van life isn’t a trend to us. It’s where we came from.
